Anche se quest'anno la primavera sembra non arrivare mai, questo weekend mi sono dedicata al cambio di stagione: fuori i maglioni di lana e dentro magliette e abiti leggeri! Gli indumenti invernali sono finiti in un paio di scatoloni dove riposeranno per (si spera!) un bel po' di mesi.
Even if this year the spring seems far from coming, this weekend I made the wardrobe season change-over: wool sweaters out and lightwait dresses in! The winter clothes are now stored in a couple of cartons where they will rest for (hopefully!) many months.
Ogni anno mi ritrovavo ad attaccare biglietti sugli scatoloni per ricordare dove avessi messo questo o quell'altro, ma quest'anno mi è venuto in mente un sistema migliore: cartellini intercambiabili! Si possono togliere, scambiare, correggere, sostituire, il tutto senza doverli staccare ogni volta dagli scatoloni (con il rischio di rovinarli).
Every year I sticked cards on the cartons to remember what was in them, but this year I thought of a better solution: interchangeable cards! They can be removed, exchanged, rectified and replaced without having to unstick them (with the risk to ruin the cartons).
Materiale:
* foglio di plastica trasparente rigida (il mio è stato riciclato da una vecchia scatola)
* cartoncino (se anche questo lo avete riciclato, meglio ancora!)
* righello
* scotch
* forbici
* pennarelli
Material:
* transparent rigid plastic sheet (mine is recycled from an old box)
* cardboard (if you recycle this too, so much the better!)
* ruler
* adhesive tape
* scissors
* markers
Procedimento:
decidete le misure della finestrella di plastica in base alle dimensioni del vostro foglio trasparente: nel mio caso ho deciso di fare due rettangoli da 10 x 9 cm per tagliare via la parte rovinata del foglio. Per disegnare i rettangoli ho utilizzato uno spillo per lasciare un segno ben visibile sulla plastica.Ritagliate.
Procedure:
decide the plastic window size according to your plastic sheet: in my example I decided to make two rectangles of 10 x 9 cm to cut out the ruined parts of the sheet. To draw the rectangles I used a pin to make a visible mark on the plastic. Cut the rectangles.
Ritagliate altrettanti rettangoli di cartoncino, leggermente più stretti di quelli di plastica (circa mezzo cm) e 1 cm più alti (nel mio caso: plastica 10 x 9 cm, cartoncino 9.5 x 10 cm) in modo da poterli inserire ed estrarre comodamente.
Cut as many paper rectangles, slightly narrow of the plastic ones (about half cm) and 1 cm high (in my example: plastic 10 x 9 cm, cardboard 9.5 x 10 cm) to make them easily in and out from behind the plastic.
Scrivete su ogni cartoncino il contenuto di uno scatolone.
Write on each card the content of a carton.
Usando lo scotch applicate i rettangoli di plastica sugli scatoloni. Suggerisco di posizionarli su un lato e non in cima, così anche quando gli scatoloni saranno impilati sarà facile vedere il contenuto! Applicate lo scotch sui bordi laterali e inferiore della plastica, lasciando libero il bordo superiore.
Use the adhesive tape to apply the plastic rectangles on the cartons. I suggest to place them on one side of the cartons and not on the top, so it will be easy to read the content even when the cartons are stacked. Apply the adhesive tape on the lateral sides and on the bottom of the rectangle, but not on the upper side.
Inserite il cartoncino attraverso la parte superiore della finestrella di plastica.
Credetemi, è un sistema comodissimo! Ed ecco i miei scatoloni pronti per il lungo riposo estivo, con le liste del contenuto ben visibili!

E' quasi un mese che non scrivo sul blog! La cosa mi dispiace, ma ultimamente sono stanca e preferisco dedicare le mie poche energie e il poco tempo libero al mio abito da sposa e al balcone.
It's quite one month since I wrote on this blog last time! I'm sorry for this, but in this period I'm quite tired and I prefer to dedicate my few energies and the few free time to my wedding dress and to our balcony.
Il balcone finalmente contiene alcune piante provenienti dalle nostre vecchie case e un angolo "orto" in cui speriamo di riuscire a far crescere, oltre ai fagioli di questo post, anche un po' di fragole, lattughina, carote e basilico.
The balcony at last contains some plants from our previous houses and a "vegetable" corner where we hope will grow not only the beans from this post, but also some strawberries, lettuce, carrots and basil.
Lo vedete quel bellissimo alberello al centro? E' il nostro nuovo albero di limone, regalo del moroso per il mio compleanno (settimana scorsa): ha un sacco di fiori profumatissimi e tanti piccoli limoni! Stupendo!
Can you see the beautiful little tree in the middle? It's our new lemon tree, that my boyfriend gifted me for my birthday (last week): it has a lot of scented flowers and many little lemons! Wonderful!
Anche l'abito da sposa procede, un po' a rilento. Mancano solo poco più di quattro mesi al matrimonio! Aiuto!!!

Durante un weekend di pioggia e freddo, in cui per colmo di sfiga ho anche scoperto che sono dimagrita e quindi la parte alta dell'abito mi va larga e devo stringere il cartamodello (e speriamo di non cambiare ancora peso prima del matrimonio... ma sarà dura...) c'è per lo meno un barlume di primavera: i fagioli che ho seminati poco tempo fa stanno germogliando!
During a rainy and cold weekend, in which I also discovered that I slimmed down and therefore the upper part of the dress is too loose and I have to tighten the pattern (and hopefully I'll not change again my weight before the wedding... but it'll be hard...) there's at least one glimmer of spring: the beans I sow short time ago are sprouting!
Alcuni sono sementi che ho comperato, altri sono fagioli che avevo comperato secchi da mangiare mesi fa e che ho tenuto da parte.
Some are seeds I bought, the others are dried beans I bought to cook and that I put aside months ago.
Li ho messi in ammollo in acqua per qualche ora, poi li ho messi a germogliare in un contenitore con del cotone inumidito e quando ho visto spuntare le radici li ho trasferiti nella terra in questi piccoli vasetti fatti con carta di giornale (prossimamente il tutorial) così che possano essere tranquillamente interrati nei vasi sul terrazzo quando il clima tornerà un po' più clemente.
I soaked them for some hours, then put them in a container with some damped cotton and when the roots started to show I moved them to small vases made with newspaper filled with ground (tutorial will follow) so that they can be buried in the vases on the terrace once the weather will become milder.
Nel frattempo me li tengo in casa e li guardo crescere: ma avete idea di quanto velocemente crescono??? Basta tornare a guardarli dopo una mezzora e si vede già il cambiamento!!! Un miracolo...
Meanwile I keep them inside the house and watch them grow: do you have any idea how fast they grow??? If you watch them after just half an hour you can already see they're changed!!! A miracle...
Ecco, in questo momento mi trovo davanti ad un bivio: da una parte la mia anima da blogger (e anche un filino esibizionista, eheheh!) mi spinge a condividere con voi le foto dei progressi del mio abito da sposa, dall'altra parte mi piace anche l'idea che il mio abito rimanga una sorpresa fino al giorno del matrimonio!
Well, in this moment I'm facing a turnoff: on one side my blogger nature (and my being a bit exhibitionist, eheheh!) leads me to share with you all the pictures of the wedding dress progresses, on the other side I also like the idea to keep the dress secret until the wedding!
Il moroso/futuromarito ha scelto di non vederlo (nonostante l'abito sia lì in casa) perchè preferisce la sorpresa. Ormai però capita spesso che quando siamo insieme e incontriamo qualcuno che legge il blog mi viene chiesto di parlare dell'abito, si scambiano domande e commenti su modello e decorazioni, insomma, si toglie un po' di sorpresa al moroso! E poi mi sembra assurdo che amici e sconosciuti conoscano ogni dettaglio dell'abito prima che lui lo abbia visto...
The boyfriend/futurehusband decided not to see the dress (even if it is in the house) because he prefers it to be a surprise. But now it often happens that when we are together we meet someone who reads the blog and who asks questions about the dress or comments about the shape and decorations, and this takes off some of the surprise to him! And then it's awkward that friends and strangers know every detail of the dress before the boyfriend even saw it...
Quindi credo che d'ora in avanti mi limiterò a tenervi aggiornati sui progressi e posterò qualche foto senza farlo mai vedere per intero. Per le foto complete dovrete aspettare settembre!
So from now on I think I will only keep you updated on the progresses and will post only pictures without showing the full dress. For the complete pictures you have to wait until September!
Comunque, per la cronaca: l'abito al momento è ancora in versione "test", ma finalmente ho ripreso a lavorarci su!!!
Anyway, for the record: the dress is still in its "test" version but I finally resumed working on it!!!
Per Pasqua ho rivisto il mio nipotino (lo so, lo vedo pochissimo, che zia degenere...) e siccome a soli 5 mesi e mezzo è un po' troppo piccolo per apprezzare un uovo di cioccolato ho pensato di realizzare un giochino handmade.
On Easter day I met my nephiew (I know, I see him too seldom, what a deplorable aunt...) and being only 5 and a half months old he is still not interested in chocolate Easter eggs I decided to realize a handmade toy.
Mi serviva un'idea semplice e veloce, ultimamente il tempo scarseggia!!! Così mi sono ricordata di questo anello gioco visto sul blog di Equazioni: un anello di legno con alcune fettucce applicate. Velocissimo da realizzare, ci vogliono giusto 5 minuti!
I needed a simple and fast idea, lately my time is never enough!!! So I thought of this toy ring seen on the Equazioni blog: a wooden ring with some ribbons applied. Very fast, it just takes 5 minutes!
Nella mia versione ho utilizzato fettucce di materiali e colori diversi, per rendere il gioco ancora più allegro e stimolante: un nastro di organza bianca (trasparente e sottile), uno di velluto giallo (morbidoso), uno di raso arancione (lucido e liscio) e un nastro gross-grain verde (ruvido). Ho scattato alcune foto durante la lavorazione, così ecco il tutorial della mia versione.
In my version I used ribbons of different material and colour to make the toy more happy and stimulating: a white organdi ribbon (transparent and thin), a yellow velvet one (soft), an orange satin one (smooth and shiny) and a green gross-grain ribbon (rough). I took some pictures during the process, so here is the tutorial of my version.
Materiale:
un anello da tende di legno (il mio è circa 6 cm di diametro)
quattro nastri di diversi colori e materiali lunghi circa 22 cm
macchina da cucire oppure ago e filo
Material:
a wooden ring for curtains (mine is about 6 cm in diameter)
four ribbons in different colours and materials about 22 cm each
sewing machine or needle and thread
1) passate una estremità del primo nastro all'interno dell'anello sovrapponendolo abbastanza da aver spazio per cucire vicino al legno
1) put one end of the first ribbon through the wooden ring and overlap it to the remaining ribbon leaving enough space to sew near the wood
2) prendete l'altra estremità del nastro, ripiegatela su se stessa in modo che non si sfilacci e sovrapponetela alla prima estremità in modo da formare un anello
2) take the other end of the ribbon, fold it on itself to prevent fraying and put it over the first end to create a sort of ring
3) cucite le due estremità sovrapposte tenendovi vicino alla base di legno utilizzando uno zig zag largo (se usate la macchina da cucire) così da evitare che il nastro si sfilacci
3) sew the two overlapping ends near the wooden base using a large zig-zag (if you are using the sewing machine) to avoid the ribbons to fray
4) cucite allo stesso modo le altre fettucce. Il giochino è finito!
4) repeat for the other ribbons. The toy is finished!
Il nipotino ha apprezzato molto, ha subito iniziato a stringerlo, agitarlo e mordicchiarlo!
The nephiew liked it a lot, he instantly grabbed the toy and started to shake and bite it!
